Oak

Oak the most common type of wood there is. Traditionally Oak is what you see in most homes. All though not the softest wood at 1290 on the Janka scale still the most common out there. The only time you would want to go below the 1290 on the Janka scale is if you really looking for a rustic look. The woods below oak are soft and easily scratched and dented.

The good features of oak flooring are the characteristics or the grain of oak. You can get a very clean look in oak, not a lot of knots or large grain. This would be for the more contemporary look. If you’re looking for a more rustic look you can get a character grade oak meaning larger knots and wide grains. You can even get the wood hand scraped to make it more rustic. The more rustic the oak is the less you will see the scratches.

Also with oak it takes stain very well you can stain the wood to almost any color. You can make your floor virtually a very unique to your personal taste. Oak is also the most affordable hardwood floor you can purchase. Denver Carpet and Hardwood sells all different colors, styles and widths of oak. Whether it is a prefinished or a finish on site we are here to answer any of your questions you may have about hardwood floors.
