Acacia

Acacia is an exotic wood. Acacia tree and shrubs grow in the tropic lowlands of Asia and Australia. These trees grow to about 145 feet. These trees are a twisty tree. They wrap around themselves. So when thinking of this as a possibility for your home remember that the random lengths are of the shorter nature 1 to 4 feet in length.

There are actually two different kinds of acacia you really need to be aware of. The typical is the multi colors form the light blond to the dark chocolate brown. This is the hardest Acacia out there it is from the heart of the tree. The reading on the Janka scale is 1750. With this type of hardness and the right finishing makes this a great wood. With the multi coloring it hides the surfaces scratches that can occur.

The other type is more of the outer edges not as much of the multi coloring. More of the blonde to a golden oak color more just on the light side hardly any on the dark chocolate brown side. This acacia is soft on the Janka scale it is more in the 1280 softer than red oak. This Acacia is softer and easier to dent. You will need to be aware of this acacia it is not the same as the multi color acacia as before mentioned.
