When you are looking at a tile floor there are a ton of options. Just let your imagination run wild. The first step to try and pick your tile would be the size small, large, rectangle or even a hexagon shape. The last option would be to pick more than one shape and make a design or mosaic as the tile industry call it. Just be creative there is no wrong answer.

Some tile types are:

Granite Tile: Although not found on the floor except as accents. Polished granite is very slippery. Use caution on the floor or try just as an accent.

Saltillo Tile: Also known as Mexican tile, Saltillo tile is unique do to it is air dry out in the sun. This tile is less durable very porous and should not be installed in a climate that can get below freezing especially if it is installed outside. Another unique character for Saltillo tile is comes in different shades of red, orange and yellow.

Slate Tile: A natural tile usually comes in muted dark colors. This tile typically comes naturally grain you can get it in a smooth finish.
