Domestic Maple Wood Flooring
Maple is traditionally a lighter hardwood that is more blonde in color than an oak or hickory floor. The grain in Maple is characterized by long lines that go into a swirl pattern thoughout. The maple that is grown in the northern region of the country is typically denser then in a southern region. The reason for the more dense wood is that in the northern area there is a shorter growth period. If you enjoy the blonde color of domestic maple hardwood flooring, Denver Carpet and Hardwood has a large selection that you should see.
Maple is harder than Oak at 1450 on the Janka scale (the rating that measures the resistance of a sample of wood to denting and wear). This means maple flooring is harder to scratch and dent. Because Denver is so dry, we highly recommend you have a humidifier in your home if you have maple flooring. When maple dries out it has a tendency to crack and become brittle.
